Introducing academics to your child shouldn’t be stressful… for either of you.
I’m here to help parents and caregivers learn how to build the foundations of reading, writing, and mathematics in their toddlers and preschoolers… While promoting a lifelong love of learning.
My Story
I’m a passionate educator, with a masters degree from Teachers College Columbia University and a decade of experience teaching children from Kindergarten - 5th Grade.
Over the years, one thing became abundantly clear - kids who love learning do better in school.
BUT this love of learning isn’t something that magically appears in some kids and not in others! It can be nurtured by the adults in a child’s life.
When I became a mother, I discovered that children begin forming their attitudes about learning long before they enter the doors of a school building. And it’s up to US whether children see learning as something mundane and stressful OR as something joyful and interesting.
And as I left the classroom to stay home with my daughter during the pandemic, I worked to bring that philosophy home - and turned online to find other parents who were in the same boat looking to do the same.
But along that journey, I found some troublesome trends. I was inundated with:
- Cutesy activities with no clear objective
- Longgg checklists of random unconnected academic skills
- Passionate but uninformed blog posts about avoiding anything academic altogether in order to preserve the magic of childhood
- Advertisements for flashy apps or thick workbooks or flash cards
It took tons of time and effort to sift through the noise, find reputable sources, and consolidate the information into actionable steps that I could realistically use with my own daughter. And if it takes someone with a masters degree in education and 10 years of teaching experience that much time and effort to make sense of what’s out there, how can we realistically expect that of busy parents?
That’s why in my course, I aim to give you reliable, simple, and thorough information, in order to guide you through everything you REALLY need to know.
By the end of my course, you’ll feel comfortable and confident to help your child build the foundations for success in reading, writing, and mathematics - while loving it every step of the way.
